Class Guidelines & Expectations
To ensure a safe, supportive, and enjoyable learning environment for everyone, we kindly ask all clients to follow the guidelines below. These rules help us maintain a positive experience for both dogs and humans, and ensure that each session runs smoothly and respectfully.
Our Foundation Lifeskills Course is designed to be a fun, positive learning experience for both you and your dog. To ensure classes run smoothly and safely for everyone, we kindly ask that you follow a few important guidelines:
Your Dog Must:
- Be under your control at all times.
- Remain on a lead, unless instructed otherwise by your trainer.
- Wear a flat collar, no choke chains, French collars, Martingales, or half-choke collars.
- Be permitted to wear a harness or head collar, but only in addition to a flat collar.
- Use a standard clipping lead or a double-ended training lead (no extendable leads, slip leads, or figure-of-eight leads).
- Not attend class if showing signs of illness, such as vomiting or diarrhoea. Your dog must be symptom-free for at least 48 hours before returning.
- Not attend class after contact with a communicable disease (e.g. kennel cough, parvovirus, distemper, or canine influenza) until cleared by a vet.
Dogs in season may attend, provided the instructor is informed in advance and your dog is comfortable participating.
Your Responsibilities:
- Be respectful to all handlers, dogs, instructors, and the venue.
- Ensure your dog does not interact with other dogs or people during class, unless directed by the trainer.
- Refrain from using any harsh handling or punitive training methods, this will not be tolerated.
- Always clean up after your dog and dispose of waste responsibly (preferably at home).
What to Bring to Class:
- Poo bags
- A bed or mat for your dog to settle on
- Tasty treats or a toy as a reward
