Class Guidelines & Expectations

To ensure a safe, supportive, and enjoyable learning environment for everyone, we kindly ask all clients to follow the guidelines below. These rules help us maintain a positive experience for both dogs and humans, and ensure that each session runs smoothly and respectfully.

Our Foundation Lifeskills Course is designed to be a fun, positive learning experience for both you and your dog. To ensure classes run smoothly and safely for everyone, we kindly ask that you follow a few important guidelines:

Your Dog Must:

  • Be under your control at all times.
  • Remain on a lead, unless instructed otherwise by your trainer.
  • Wear a flat collar, no choke chains, French collars, Martingales, or half-choke collars.
  • Be permitted to wear a harness or head collar, but only in addition to a flat collar.
  • Use a standard clipping lead or a double-ended training lead (no extendable leads, slip leads, or figure-of-eight leads).
  • Not attend class if showing signs of illness, such as vomiting or diarrhoea. Your dog must be symptom-free for at least 48 hours before returning.
  • Not attend class after contact with a communicable disease (e.g. kennel cough, parvovirus, distemper, or canine influenza) until cleared by a vet.

Dogs in season may attend, provided the instructor is informed in advance and your dog is comfortable participating.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Be respectful to all handlers, dogs, instructors, and the venue.
  • Ensure your dog does not interact with other dogs or people during class, unless directed by the trainer.
  • Refrain from using any harsh handling or punitive training methods, this will not be tolerated.
  • Always clean up after your dog and dispose of waste responsibly (preferably at home).

What to Bring to Class:

  • Poo bags
  • A bed or mat for your dog to settle on
  • Tasty treats or a toy as a reward
→ Please bring treats in a treat pouch or resealable tub
